Slovakia takes over the Council of Europe Committee of Ministers Chairmanship from Serbia

Strasbourg, 07.11.2007 - The Chairmanship of the Council of Europe's Committee of Ministers will be transferred from the Republic of Serbia to Slovakia at a special meeting of the Ministers' Deputies of the 47 member States in Strasbourg on Monday 12November at 10am.

The first part of the meeting will be chaired by Vuk Jeremic, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, who will take stock of Serbia's six-month Chairmanship. At 11am, Jan Kubis, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Slovakia, will take over the chairmanship and present his country's priorities for the next six months.

At 12.00, the two Ministers will open the Exhibition "Slovak naïve painting from Serbia from collection Babka Gallery-Kovacica" (Committee of Ministers' Ante-Room).

The meeting will be held in camera. Photographers and cameramen will be allowed to take shots for 5 minutes at the opening of the meeting (10 am) and at the handing over ceremony at 11am.

A Press Conference with the two Chairmen, ingoing and outgoing, and Terry Davis, Council of Europe Secretary General, will take place at 12.30 (Room 1).
