Voorzitter Raad van Europa bezoekt Georgië (en)

Strasbourg, 12.04.2005 - Terry Davis, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, will pay an official visit to Georgia from 14 to 16 April, following President Mikheil Saakashvili's invitation, at the January session of the Parliamentary Assembly, to be a facilitator in finding a solution to the status of South Ossetia.

The Secretary General will meet President Saakashvili, Prime Minister Zurab Noghaideli, Foreign Minister Salome Zurabishvili, President of the Parliament Nino Burdjanadze and the Georgian delegation to the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly.

The programme also includes meetings with State Minister for Conflict Resolution Giorgi Khaindrava, Justice Minister Konstantine Kemularia, UN Resident Coordinator Lance Clark, Deputy Head of the UN Military Observer Mission Marian Staszewski, the Head of the OSCE Mission Roy Stephen Reeve.

On Saturday 16 April, Mr Davis will give a press conference at 1.30 pm at the Council of Europe Information Office.
