Council appoints Juhan Parts as new ECA Member

​On Monday 19 December, the Council of the EU appointed Mr Juhan Parts from Estonia as new Member of the European Court of Auditors.

· Mr Juhan Parts (Estonia) has been appointed as an ECA Member from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2022.

The ECA College of Members, in its new composition, will meet in the coming weeks to decide on the chamber to which the new Member will be assigned and to determine his specific duties. An updated organisation chart will be published on the ECA website in due course.

ECA Members are appointed by the Council having been proposed by their respective Member States and after consultation with the European Parliament.

The Members’ terms of office are renewable. The Treaty requires them to perform their duties in complete independence and in the general interest of the European Union.
