Europees Parlement oneens met nieuwe technische standaarden bodyscanners (en)

Many MEPs felt that the technical standards proposed by the Commission for body scanners would allow images too detailed to protect personal privacy. Some suggested that the Commission had missed a chance to create an incentive for manufacturers to design scanners that produce something closer to "stick" images.

Commissioner Algirdas Šemeta stressed that the implementing measures proposed by the Commission broadly respected Parliament's demands as voted at the July plenary session.

Passengers will have the right to refuse body scans and opt for a traditional body search instead.
