Van Rompuy, Barroso en Ashton veroordelen aanslagen Moskou (en)

EU-President Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso and High Representative Catherine Ashton have all strongly condemned the terrorist assaults on Moscow's Domodedovo airport.

President Barroso has reacted to the Moscow airport bombing with the following statement:

"It was with shock and great sadness that I heard about the terrorist attack at the Domodedovo airport outside Moscow this afternoon. I strongly condemn this cowardly terrorist attack. I send my heartfelt condolences to the government and to the people of the Russian Federation, and in particular to the families and the loved ones of the victims. My thoughts and deepest sympathy are with them in these terrible moments."

Vice-President Kallas, European Commissioner for Transport, has written to Russia Transport Minister Igor Levitin to offer any technical support or assistance that the Russian authorities may require."

Catherine Ashton also expressed her horror:

"I strongly condemn today's murderous attack at the Moscow's Domodedovo airport that claimed the lives of at least 30 people and wounded more than 130.

I express my deepest condolences to the families and friends of the victims and to the Russian government. Innocent travellers have been killed by this brutal, random attack. The European Union condemns all acts of terrorism, and expresses its solidarity with the Russian people."

EU-President Herman Van Rompuy was outraged by the act:

"I strongly condemn today's terrorist attack at Moscow's Domodedovo airport which caused the loss of many lives. I am outraged by this criminal act and I call for those behind the suicide bomb to be tracked down and punished. I would like to convey my most sincere condolences to the families of the victims. I have sent President Medvedev a message of solidarity from the European Union."
