Gijs de Vries benoemd tot lid Europese Rekenkamer (en)

Following his nomination by the Dutch authorities, Mr Gijs M. de Vries has been appointed as a Member of the European Court of Auditors for the period from 1 January 2011 to

31 December 2013.

In accordance with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, the appointment was made by the Council of the European Union, after consultation with the European Parliament.

Mr Gijs M. de Vries will replace Mr Maarten B. Engwirda, who has resigned with effect from 1 January 2011 and needs to be replaced for the remainder of his term of office. Mr Engwirda, who joined the Court on 1 January 1996, is retiring at the end of 2010.

Mr De Vries will be formally sworn in at the Court of Justice of the European Union.
