Voorzitter Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité ontmoet Griekse premier ter voorbereiding conferentie (en)
On 6 March 2008 the President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), Mr Dimitris Dimitriadis, met at Maximos Palace in Athens with the Greek Prime Minister, Mr Kostas Karamanlis. The purpose of this meeting was to inform the Greek Prime Minister about the Biennial Conference organised by the EESC, which will take place on 8 and 9 September 2008, in Athens.
During this meeting, Mr Dimitriadis announced that the President of the European Commission, Mr Jose Manuel Barroso, and the President of the European Parliament, Mr Hans-Gert Pöttering, would participate in the opening session of the Biennial Conference.
Mr Karamanlis confirmed that he would give a conference-opening speech on 8 September 2008.
The parties also discussed recent activities of the European Economic and Social Committee and its role in civil dialogue.
