Woensdag 30 augustus ontmoet EU-commissaris Piebalgs de Noorse minister van energie (en)

vrijdag 25 augustus 2006

Energy Commissioner, Andris Piebalgs will meet Norway's Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Mr. Odd Roger Enoksen, in the framework of the yearly meeting of the EU-Norway Energy Dialog.

During this bilateral meeting, the two delegations will discuss the current trends of the global and European energy landscape, with a particular attention to the new European Energy Policy.

The interdependence of the EU and its main energy partners and the positive effects of permanent dialogs are recognized in the Commission's Green Paper "A European Strategy for Sustainable, Competitive and Secure Energy".

This is precisely the case of Norway. 100% of Norvegian gas exports go to the EU. Norway is the 2nd supplier of gas to the Union (after Russia) with 15% of total EU consumption. At the same time 80% of its oil exports got to EU Member States, representing 14,4% of our crude oil imports.

The annual meeting of the EU-Norway Energy dialog will establish the base of further co-operation with this key and reliable supplier.
