Europese Commissie maant Griekenland om Single Sky richtlijnen om te zetten in nationale wetgeving (en)

The Commission sent today a reasoned opinion - the last step before a formal complaint to the Court of Justice is lodged - to Greece for failure to respect EU legislation on the establishment of a national supervisory authority in the context of the Single European Sky.

The Regulation concerned here^[1], which entered into force in April 2004, sets up the institutional framework for the single European sky. A main feature is the separation between the provision of air navigation services on the one hand and the supervision and regulation of these services on the other hand. Member States are required to establish an independent national supervisory authority to assume the different tasks identified in EU legislation including certification of air navigation service providers and on-going compliance oversight.

Up to now, Greece has failed to establish such an authority.
