63% of EU citizens are favourable to the development of globalisation while more than half (52%) believe that if globalisation intensifies in the future this would be more advantageous for them, according to a Flash Eurobarometer published by the European Commission today. EU Trade Commissioner Pascal Lamy said: «'With countries around the world opening up to wider contact with each other, globalisation is here to stay. But for globalisation to work to the benefit of all, and in particular the most vulnerable, we need to make sure that we harness it, a message we have been hammering away at for the last four years. We need strong international institutions capable of addressing global issues and creating global rules to ensure sustainable development.»
