Tony Blair: hartproblemen veroorzaakt door sterke koffie in Brussel

The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair probably had too much and too strong a coffee during the EU summit in Brussels last week, which may have triggered his heart scare.

A Blair aide told The Independent: "He is saying that he drank a lot of coffee at the summit. He obviously felt the need for it to keep him going. It is possible that he had too much strong, continental coffee. Perhaps he should have stuck to herbal tea".

Mr Blair, 50, started to feel unwell on Sunday. He has never suffered heart problems before but was taken to London's Hammersmith Hospital after complaining of chest pains.

Doctors have said that Mr Blair suffered an irregular heartbeat condition, called supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and ordered him to rest for a day.

Mr Blair has now returned to his full schedule.
